Nicholas Mosse Pottery was established in 1976 by Nicholas Mosse to produce beautiful, functional pottery in the style of Irish Spongeware. Using the inspiration of the Irish countryside, Nicholas Mosse Pottery features a wide range of natural forms and patterns. Each piece of Nicholas Mosse Pottery is lavished with care and attention by a team of craftspeople who do everything from mixing their own special clay to throwing and firing by hand. The final stage of decoration is also done by hand in the traditional manner. Each tiny motif is cut from sponges, then dipped into pigment and applied by hand to build up the beautiful patterns. Each piece is individually crafted and no two are alike.
